- Armed Forces (Special Powers) Act (AFSPA) has been reduced in certain areas of Nagaland, Assam and Manipur. The act grants special powers to the Indian Armed Forces. Irom Chanu Sharmila, also known as the “Iron Lady of Manipur”. To protest against this act, she fasted for 16 years.
- India and France began a five-day mega naval wargame in the Arabian Sea, known as the Varuna exercise.
