India hosted the 2nd edition of Global FinTech Festival (GFF) 2021, the World’s largest virtual fintech festival from September 28 to 30, 2021. GFF 2021 is organized by National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) and Fintech Convergence Council (FCC) and Internet and Mobile Association of India (IAMAI) along with Payments Council of India (PCI).
India was positioned at an overall rank of 59th among 110 countries in Digital Quality of Life Index 2021. This is 2 positions lower than the 57th rank secured by India in the 2020 Index.
American scientists David Julius and LebaneseAmerican molecular biologist Ardem Patapoutian won the 2021 Nobel Prize for Physiology or Medicine for their discoveries of receptors for temperature and touch.
The Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences awarded the 2021 Nobel Prize in Chemistry to German chemist Benjamin List and British chemist David W.C. MacMillan for the development of a precise new and ingenious tool for molecular construction: asymmetric organocatalytic.

Telangana Celebrated Bathukamma festival on 6th October 2021. Bathukamma, a part of Dasara festivities, is a traditional Hindu festival celebrated predominantly in the state of Telangana and in some parts of Andhra Pradesh (AP). The Bathukamma festival celebrates the relationship between earth, water and the humans. Bathukamma means ‘Goddess of Life’.
Journalists Maria Ressa & Dmitry Andreyevich Muratov won the Nobel Peace Prize 2021 for their efforts to protect the freedom of expression, the precondition of democracy and lasting peace.

United Nations (UN)’s International Day for Disaster Risk Reduction (IDDRR) is annually observed across the globe on October 13th to promote the culture of risk awareness and disaster reduction and to recognize the progress towards reducing disaster risk and loss of lives, livelihoods and health.

- Reliance Industries Tops in Indian Firm, Ranked 52nd in Forbes’ World’s Best Employer Rankings 2021
- National Mineral Development Corporation Ltd. (NMDC), the country’s largest iron ore producer and also a Navratna CPSE under the Ministry of Steel, received a “Gold Award” in the Environmental Sustainability category and NMDC’s Kumaraswamy Iron Ore Mine received a “Platinum Award” in the Environmental Management category.

- Rajasthan has ranked 2nd after Karnataka on the State Energy Efficiency Index (SEEI)2020, which was released by the Union Ministry of Power. The State Energy Efficiency Index 2020 was developed by the Bureau of Energy Efficiency (BEE) and the Alliance for an Energy Efficient Economy (AEEE).
- Narayan Tatu Rane, Union Minister of Micro, Small & Medium Enterprises (MSME) launched ‘SAMBHAV’ an e-national level Awareness programme 2021 to promote the role of entrepreneurship towards the development of India. SAMBHAV will be a one-monthlong initiative under the Ministry of MSME

- As part of a major rebrand, Facebook Inc has changed its corporate name to Meta in an effort to include its virtual reality vision for the future. - World Polio Day is annually observed across the globe on October 24th to create awareness about the importance of the efforts to eradicate poliomyelitis (polio), an infectious disease that most commonly affects children under the age of 5.

- Vigilance Awareness Week (VAW) is annually observed across India during the week which marks the birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, which falls on 31st October.
